Forgings

Sinotech has experience in the supply of forgings in particular Aluminium Precision Forgings used in the construction of EV Battery Trays and also Steel Forgings used by OEM customers in a variety of materials and applications. Sinotech works with a group of specialist partners to fulfil our customers forged product requirements.
Hot Forging
Hot Forging is a widely forging process where the raw material is deformed by tooling at a temperature above the material’s re-crystallisation temperature. Due to contact with the die surface we see a temperature differential from the surface to the centre of the material being forged. Hot forging is generally used to achieve complex 3D geometries enabling the processing of difficult to form materials. Steel Forging improves structural integrity and produces steel parts that are stronger than comparable cast parts.
Advantages
- High strain rates and easy flow of material
- Recrystallisation
- Lower forces required
Disadvantages
- Die lubrication at high temperatures can be difficult
- Surface scaling and oxidation of the work piece can occur resulting in surface degradation
- Lower tolerances
- Possible warping during the cooling process.
